Collecting baseball cards can be fun if you are a Yankees fan.  Here is a list of the Top 10 New York Yankees baseball cards you need to make sure you have in your collection.  Some of these cards are very expensive so this list is not for the average fan.  Make sure that you take the condition of the cards into consideration before you make a purchase.

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth baseball cards

Babe Ruth baseball cards are very expensive and his 1933 Goudey cards are not some of his more affordable cards.  They are some of his best cards.  Goudey featured the Bambino in their 1933 set including in in a few different cards.  All of these Babe Ruth cards are great investments.  Due to their age these cards are very hard to find let alone in good condition expect to pay in upwards of $10,000 for any of these cards in NM 7 condition.

1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card

This is not the most expensive Mickey Mantle baseball card but it is surely one of his best.  The 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle card is his true rookie card and a great investment.  Again this card is not cheap.  Expect to pay $10,000 for this card as well in NM7 condition or better.  GMA has only graded 2 of these cards in that condition just to give you an idea of how hard they are to find in premium condition.

1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig rookie card

This amazing Lou Gehrig baseball cards is worth about $6.500 in NM 7 condition. This Gehrig card is one of the best cards you can find of the Iron Horse which makes it one of the best investments on the list.

1938 Goudey Joe Dimaggio baseball card– The Yankee Clippers has a few great cards to buy but the 1938 Goudey is on top of the list. Joe Dimaggio baseball cards in general are very hard to find in good condition and this one is one of the hardest.  His 1939 Play Ball and 1948 Leaf cards are also very popular with collectors.  You can expect to pay around $12,000 for this card in NM 7 condition.

don-mattingly-rookie-card1984 Donruss Don Mattingly rookie card- This is Don Mattingly’s most valuable rookie card.  This baseball card many people believe changed the hobby as a whole in 1984.  It brought baseball cards from being just a fun hobby to being sound investments.  This is one of the most popular cards in the hobby and is very affordable.  You can find a Gem MT 10 version of the 1984 Donruss Don Mattingly for about $100.

1993 SP Derek Jeter rookie card– This is the best Derek Jeter rookie card or baseball card that you can own.  The Yankee SS is one of the most popular New York Yankees of all-time and is a for sure first ballot Hall of Famer.  GMA has only graded 2 of these cards in Gem MT 10 condition.  You can expect to pay about $4000 for these cards in Gem MT 10 condition.  Most of these cards are impossible to find in good condition even though they are modern day cards.

1994 SP Alex Rodriguez rookie card– Alex is on is way to being possibly the greatest Homerun hitter of all-time.  The 1994 SP Alex Rodriguez rookie card is one of his most valuable cards.  The foil the cards were printed on made the rookie card very hard to find in good condition.  Expect to pay over $4000 for this card in Gem MT 10 condition much like the Derek Jeter SP rookie.

1948 Bowman Yogi Berra rookie card– This amazing Yogi Berra baseball card is his true rookie card.  You can find one of these cards in NM 7 condition for about $1000.  If you happen to find one in better condition expect to pay much more.

1969 Topps Reggie Jackson rookie card– This is one of the best rookie cards of any of the New York Yankees that we have discussed.  Mr. October is a Yankees legend and his 1969 Topps rookie card is very undervalued.  You can find one of these cards in Mint 9 condition for about $2000.  These cards are very hard to find that condition but if you can you have made a great purchase.

1992 Bowman Mariano Rivera rookie card– This is one of the most affordable cards on the list as you can find these cards for about $25.  The 1992 Bowman Mariano Rivera rookie card is still undervalued when you understand that he is the most dominant closer to ever play the game.  The Sandman has closed the door for the Yankees notching more than a few World Series victories under his belt.
