A Magic Johnson rookie card is one of the best investments that you can make.  Magic will always be remembered as one of the great Los Angeles Lakers  of All-Time.  He continues to have a huge following and his rookie cards will continue to go up in value in the future.  The great thing about the 1980-81 Topps Magic Johnson rookie card is it also Larry Bird’s rookie card.  Many people believe this is the greatest basketball card ever as it depicts the rookie cards of two of the greatest players of all-time and if that is not enough also has Julius Erving on the card.  As Magic continues to be in the center of basketball history his rookie card will always be one of the best investments that one can make.  Much like the Michael Jordan rookie cards this card has a lot of room to rise in value.  Here is a list of some of the best Magic Johnson basketball cards that you will also want to consider buying.

1980-81 Magic Johnson Rookie Card

One of the greatest cards ever and almost impossible to find in Gem MT 10 condition.  Expect to pay over $5000 for this card if you can find it in that condition.  Mint 9′s can be purchased for about $650.

Magic Johnson Star basketball cards

Star released these bags sets in the early 1980′s.  These cards are very scarce if you can find real one’s.  There were many counterfeit cards produced which make it even more and more difficult to find real one’s in good condition.  These Magic Johnson basketball cards have colored borders which make them very condition sensitive.  Many of these basketball cards were mis-cut which make them very hard to find centered.

These are great investments.  Expect to pay a $100 or more for any Magic Johnson basketball card that is authentic.  Beware of counterfeit autographs as they are prevalent in the hobby.
