Kershaw is on his way to winning his third Cy Young Award.  On the season he has an 11-2 record and an amazing 1.78 ERA.  The Dodgers southpaw has already recorded 126 strikeouts on the year in only 96 innings pitched.  Kershaw, complements heater with sharp slider and solid curve.  He is an excellent athlete who generates low-90s heat with easy delivery.  He displays excellent mound presence.

Clayton is making his mark on the Hobby. His cards have more than doubled in value in the past few weeks.  Here is a list of some of Kershaw’s best rookie cards.

2008 Bowman Draft Clayton Kershaw Rookie Card #BDP26

These cards are not easy to find in Gem MT 10 condition due to the black borders that surround the card.  NM-MT versions of this card are currently selling for $8-$10.  This is one of the more popular lower end cards that collectors have seemed to add as one of their favorites.

These Clayton Kershaw baseball cards are very popular with collectors for many reasons.  Chrome cards are favorites among collectors because of the way they are made.  These cards normally grade very well because of their thick card stock.  Buyers should pay close attention to the centering of these cards as they tend to be a common issue.  Currently these cards are selling for $75-$100 graded in Gem MT 10 condition while ungraded cards in Mint condition are hovering just over $10.

2007 Bowman USA Rookie #BDPP77

While there doesn’t seem to be any shortages of this card, it still remains popular with collectors.  These cards are generally centered nicely and have sharp corners.  Because of the perceived large production run, these cards are more affordable than most.

2006 Bowman Chrome #DP84

Chrome cards are favorites among collectors because of the way they are made.  Some variations of this great card include refractors, Xfractors and autographed rookies.  What seemingly was a card that was overpriced at first; it has shown no signs of slowing down.  This maybe Clayton Kershaw’s best rookie card.

2005 Upper Deck USA Baseball #86

Nothing ruins the value of the card like beat up corners.  These Upper Deck rookie cards nick easy and often. Collectors should watch for damaged edges on these cards.  This card is worthy of anyone’s collection.  Autographed variations sell for $200 plus and base cards sell for $15-$20 ungraded.  The bottom line is these cards are scarce and you should not pass up on an opportunity to obtain one.

2006 Bowman Sterling

Given the choice, collectors will always gravitate towards the card that is in short supply.  This is one of those Clayton Kershaw rookie cards that are not easy to find.  This is a must own card for any collector of rookie cards.  Autographed variations are selling for around $100 ungraded while Gem MT versions have sold for over $200.

We recommend accumulation of these cards before the price gets out of hand.  Clayton is currently the best pitcher in all of baseball and the young southpaw doesn’t seem to be slowing down.  You can expect his rookie cards to soar if he continues to pitch like he has.
