Football Cards have become very valuable and their popularity have begun to surpass baseball cards.  Old baseball cards have always been more popular and probably will continue to be but over the past 10 years new football cards have been just as popular with baseball card collectors as baseball cards.  New rookie cards have popped up as being in the forefront of many football card collectors.  Manufactures like Upper Deck and Topps have invested a lot of money in promoting their new designs of football cards.  Research has shown that football card collecting is becoming the most popular of all sports cards.  The NFL has a fan base that has been increasing over the past decade and in turn collectors have begun to see value that football rookie cards are realizing in the sports card industry.  Below will discuss the history of football cards and and give information on what you need to know when collecting football trading cards.

Topps Football Cards

Football CardsTopps was one of the first companies to ever produce football cards. Topps Football Cards  began getting recognition in the mid-1960s. As the Topps Company began to grow the started delving into football trading cards.  Topps football cards have always been popular with collectors and Topps has Produced some of the best Rookie Cards to date of some of the Greatest Hall of Famers of All-Time.  Because there was a lack of competition Topps dominated the football card industry and became the leader in football card manufacturing.  there were always if you companies that produced baseball cards but from the late 1960s Topps was the only manufacturing company that produced football cards until 1988.  If you were a football card collector in that period of time you only purchased Topps football cards.

Football Card Values

Determining a football cards value is very easy if you have a price guide or if you have access to the Internet.  There are many online sites such as eBay.com and Yahoo.com which can help you get accurate football card values of your favorite players and favorite rookie cards.  If you do not have access to the Internet you may want to consider purchasing a price guide which can be found at your local bookstore.

Football Card Price Guide

Beckett was the first company to produce a football card price guide.  They began listing the value of football trading cards and the late 1980s when the football card market began to boom.  Now there are a few publishers that have a football price guide.  Krause Publications has also created a periodical called the Tuff Stuff magazine. It really doesn’t matter which football price guide you prefer you can find what you’re looking for if you do your homework. To find a football card value just make sure you pay attention to the condition of the card when trying to figure out what it is worth.

Football Cards for Sale

If you are looking to purchase football cards you will be able to find them at your local card store or on eBay.  Football cards are readily available on Ebay just as long as you sign up and become an eBay member.  Football trading cards have become major collectible items on eBay and their are millions being listed every single day.  There are so many football card for sale on eBay that eBay was forced to create a category just to help people find exactly what they were looking for.  If you are looking to purchase football trading cards there is no other place that is better than eBay.

Old Football Cards

Over the years old football cards have grown in popularity.  Even now old football card’s do not demand prices that baseball cards do they are still great collectibles.  Some of the most expensive old football cards sell for a lot less money than old, vintage baseball cards.  As football cards have gained popularity in the past decade old football cards have continued to increase in demand.  One of the most expensive old football cards is the Joe Namath rookie card.  This over sized relic is considered to be one of the greatest football cards ever produced.  The problem is it is valued as much less than older baseball cards produced in the same year.  As the NFL promotes itself and Football moves forward as being the most popular sport old football cards will begin to rise in value.

Buy Football Cards on Ebay and Save

If you decide to buy football cards I would recommend that you do so on eBay.  Instead of driving around town looking for a certain card to finish your football card set you should browse eBay’s auctions to buy the football card you’re looking for.  Buying football cards online is extremely easy and there is no better place to find what you’re looking for.  you can save a ton of time and money buying football cards at online auction sites.

Graded Football Cards

With football cards gaining popularity grading has taken collecting to the next level.  Having your football cards graded will help you increase the value of your card collection as well as help you sell them when the time is right.  Buying graded football cards is another way to help you increase your football card collection and help you make sure that you know exactly the grade the car deserves.  Buying ungraded football cards online or from card stores can be dangerous if you do not know how to determine the condition of a football card.  It’s you do not feel that you are qualified to make this comparison you should stick to buying graded football cards only.  This will protect your investment and make sure that you’re paying the right price for the individual football card.  If you have ungraded football cards and would like to have them professionally graded you can fill out the submission form on the top of this site.  If you have any other questions about grading football cards you can also contact GMA grading at any time.
