Buying Baseball Cards to Make Money

May 1, 2009

If you are looking to make some extra money at home you might want to consider to buy baseball cards and resell them online.  Find baseball card as an art form and needs to be done properly for you not to lose all of their money.  You cannot buy only the cards that you like but you need to have a state of mind where you’re purchasing the cards and make you the most amount of money.  Personal feelings have to be kept out of the equation when nine in selling baseball cards for a profit.  Here we can discuss some of the great places that you can find baseball cards at reasonable prices and then resell them on eBay and make some extra cash.

Buying Baseball Cards at Flea Market

Buying baseball cards at a flea market can be very profitable if you know what you’re doing.  First of all you need to consider what the condition of the baseball cards that you are buying are in.  If you know the condition and you have a good idea of what the baseball cards are worth been you should have no problem finding some good deals at a flea market.  Flea market dealers are normally there on weekends and are willing to negotiate with you.  One of the best strategies that we recommend is buying baseball cards in bulk.  The more you buy the more the dealer on the other end that assignment cards will be willing to come down on his price.  When browsing through the cards make sure that you have an idea of what the cards will sell for online.  You should be able to make it least 50% to 100% on your money if you are going to spend a nice chunk of change.  These margins I know sound drastic but the truth is that is why you are in the business.  There are a lot of scenarios where you will be forced to hold on to some of the baseball cards that you are about to purchase.  Make sure you leave some buffer room so that you can maximize your profits before you make a purchase.

Buying Baseball Cards on eBay

Many people don’t realize that buying on eBay is just as valuable as selling on eBay.  When you see auctions being listed on ebay you need to understand that some of these cards were purchased a week earlier on the same auction giant.  How is this possible?  Well the truth is if you are a shrewd buyer and do your homework you will be able to do this as well.  here are a key techniques that you can use to buy on eBay and flipped the baseball cards for a profit.  Firstly you need to do is look for cards that are ungraded or for rookie card lots.  Cards that are ungraded better in good condition can be later graded or authenticated and bring back a nice return.  Buying baseball cards so they can be graded is a great way to make extra money online.  Another technique that many dealers use for buying baseball cards on eBay is buying rookie card lots.  Rookie card lots are exactly what they say lots of rookie cards sold in a bulk lot.  You should be able to look at the lot and resell the top 10 or 15 cards and get back your original investment.  Many sellers on eBay are just looking to get rid of their card collections and are not willing to spend the time buying and selling each individual card.  This works to your advantage.  Make sure that you do your best to find out exactly what is in the car lot you are about to purchase and what condition the cards are in.  You can make some serious money by buying card lots and then re-listing them as individual rookie cards online.  You can easily triple your money by using this technique.

Buying Baseball Cards from eBay Stores

I would say that 50% of baseball card dealers that sell on eBay have an eBay store.  Many dealers with their cards in their store for 30 business days hoping that these items will sell.  They list these items in their store to save money on eBay fees and to get the items listed for 30 days.  Ebay auctions only let you list items for 10 days at a time.  Here is how this benefits you.  When a dealer lists a card in his store he gets less exposure than he would if he listed the card on auction. also many dealers forget that they’ve listed the card and it continues to read list on its own.  All these scenarios work to your benefit.  Here’s an example how you can use your sellers mistake to make you extra money.  Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees Gets on a hot streak and a dealer has a 10 card lot of Topps Derek Jeter Rookie Cards listed in his store ungraded.  The Baseball Card dealer has the 10 card lot up for sale for $99.00 buy it now.  If Derek Jeter is hot and the cards are in great condition you will be able to sell Mint 9’s for more than $20.00 per card.  You do the math.

Buying baseball cards online using these techniques will help you save some money and increase your profit margins.
